Sunglasses category 3 and 4

Sunglasses are divided into categories based on their sun protection. In the European Union, there are five levels, with 0 being the lowest and 4 the highest. Category 3 sunglasses are generally the most recommended because they protect the eyes from strong solar radiation. Category 4 sunglasses are more specifically designed for people who need complete protection from ultraviolet radiation. For example, mountain sports enthusiasts or travelers visiting the desert.

On the other hand, category 0, 1, and 2 glasses absorb very little light and can even be harmful to your eyesight. At AWA, we take eye protection seriously, which is why all our glasses are category 3 and 4.

Category 3 lenses

Category 3 lenses are dark-tinted and the most comfortable to wear while sunbathing. If you're planning on spending a few days at the beach, the ocean, the pool, or even a city trip, this protection is what you need. At AWA, we apply UV filters to our lenses so you can spend hours in the sun without any discomfort to your eyes.

Category 3 lenses can absorb between 82 and 90% of the sun's rays, making them ideal for protecting your eyes on the sunniest days. Category 4 sunglasses, on the other hand, have lenses that absorb between 92 and 97% of the sun's rays, so they can be very helpful if you're in high mountains or if you practice snow sports like skiing or snowboarding.
